Is there any better university than this?

Music As Poetry

This is one we all know, but Jim Henson wrote this song for the dreamers.

The Who created some of the best lyrics ever imaginable.  "Behind Blue Eyes" and "Love, Reign O'er Me" are just two of their best songs.

The Avett Brothers personify love and hate better than just about anyone else.

There's no one alive who writes lyrics as well as Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull (the name of the band, not the singer).  His lyrics are deep and double-edged, and you have to love a guy in a band who can rock out with a flute!

The best football coach ever!!!!

"November Rain" is one of the most lyrically-sound pieces ever created by Guns 'N Roses.  And, the orchestration behind it is amazing.

Not only is this a lyrically sound song, but also it's one of the Goo Goo Dolls best songs (from one of the best movies).

The Marshall Tucker Band is one of the only southern rock bands I like.  "Running Like the Wind" is an excellent example of a simile and has a theme that is carried throughout the entire song (and the guitar, flute, and drums in the middle are great).
